JUJITSU IS JUJITSUVarious practioners in India are asking questions to us about jujitsu being practiced. Many have questions about concepts of "traditional ", "sports"., "practical","professional" etc, on there words I will explain jujitsu as jujitsu. Since the term “Jujitsu” comes itself from Japanese systems formulated by the samurai to fight in the war it’s a systems born and developed in Japan on battlefields and that is the reason why it has a Japan Link .Everything we learn in jujitsu is strikes by fist ,fingers, wrist , elbow and palm ,with kicks from instep ,heel ,knee or edgesof foot, hold and locks by holding fingers ,wrist, elbow neck ,feet etc,. takedown by elbow lock, pressure over shoulder from either sidesor front, neck lock takedown, wrist elbow takedown etc or throws by hands, legs hips or sacrifice; grappling by holding the opponent on the ground and by locking his arms, legs etc, whenever any exponent practices these techniques together they are following the principles of jujitsu. The steps are followed from the age old traditional systems of martialarts which Japanese masters taught allover the world as “traditional BUDO” There are practioners allover the world who looks to jujitsu from different angles and call their jujitsu by names which cannot be said the right system unless and until it is supported by an lineage which shows the exact masters connected with the system of jujitsu and have worked for the development and spreading of the art as it was founded. It is also true that by time many teachings are diminishing as many may not want to teach the techniques and want to keep back the knowledge as “secret”. Aswell there are also teachers who want to teach as much as possible so that their students get the best knowledge from them. It is also true that there is fear of passing on the right knowledge more in those teachers who do not have confidence in themselves , they may be afraid that the wellkept techniques may go into wrong hands and may be used for wrong work. Again to explain to sports various practioners were involved in learning, training and conducting research to get jujitsu as sports on the mat which has been used for traditional jujitsu, Dr.Jigaro Kano founded judo from jujitsu which brought in light on the sports action such as throw and strangulations etc but to the knowledge of few that in judo they also practice strikes of various type in higher grade. But in Europe many organizations were dedicated in the research and many rules were formulated.
Time and again experiments bring many concepts alive and many wanted to prove that their rules of competitions were good for the sport, but that is not the truth, since war games like boxing, wrestling. Judo karate to etc. has seen many “blood baths” it is necessary that a due concern be given to the safety of the practioner. The extra time dedicated to learn jujitsu they have to go through their regular work such as school, collage, business, job, household activities, social life, corporate goals etc so one cannot be expected be ill due to injuries and miss regular work (activities) but the system must be safe enough to enable the practioners learn with pleasure and yet not miss other commitments. So while formulating jujitsu as sports various minor points were considered. The jujitsu which has origin traced back over 2000 years has been under transformations since early 70’s into competition because it encompasses all fighting ranges. Jujitsu is unique it has world championship hosted every two years and is recognized by every major jujitsu organizations in the world. The unity and support among organizations leaves no room for discrepancies. Athletes who win a world title are now recognized by all major organizations as the undisputed world champion in his weight division. |
